Kellie Jo Holly's Bio:

Kellie Jo Holly graduates from Fayetteville State University in May 2013 with a Bachelor's degree in psychology and plans to continue her studies to earn a Master's in counseling. In the time it takes to earn her my degree, she will continue to write about domestic abuse and violence, to encourage men and women to leave abusive partners, and to help those who cannot or do not want to leave the relationship find as much peace of mind as possible. Her first book, My Abusive Marriage...and what i'm doing in it, coalesces her experience in leaving her ex-husband into a story that abuse victims, survivors, and the ones who love them can relate to and find their own answers to the problems of domestic violence and how to cope with it. Her lifetime goal is to educate and support domestic violence victims and help them find freedom from their mental (and sometimes physical) prisons. She hopes to find work in the field of domestic violence advocacy, preferably a private non-profit agency or counseling team.

I provide mentoring to women who left an abusive relationship and need a little help getting past the past. I often email and talk on the phone with women still in abusive relationships, and one day will counsel both groups of women, hopefully as part of a non-profit agency.

Verbal, mental and emotional abuse seem to love one another's company. My marriage had become riddled with these demons, but I am finding my way out of the grip of abuse. My blog is all about how I'm unraveling the knot of abuse and creating a healthier life for myself and my children. I left my abuser in January of 2010, and my story continues to this day. It seems that leaving the abuser doesn't end the abuse, nor does it solve the issues I must face as I learn to completely extricate myself from the bonds of abuse.
